When it comes to towing, not all light-duty trucks are created equal. For example, the new 2022 Ram 1500 can be fitted with an exceptional towing package that boosts its overall capability. However, competing models such as the 2022 Ford F-150 do not offer an equivalent.
The Ram 1500 is eligible for the Trailer Tow Group. When equipped with the powerful 5.7-litre HEMI V8 engine, it can pull up to 5,783 kg (12,750 lbs) without breaking a sweat. Churning out 410 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque, this performance is something you don't see often in this class. Plus, several additional hauling features are provided with this suite. These include the Class IV receiver hitch to allow for easy hookups and the 7-pin wiring harness. This ensures that electricity can flow to the attachment's lighting and braking systems. Extended trailer-tow side mirrors enable you to check on the trailer without stopping, and the integrated trailer brake controller makes coming to a halt much easier.
As for the Ford F-150, there is no grouping that equates to the Ram's offering. If you want to Class IV receiver hitch on this pickup, you have to get the Lariat trim level.
