Available in five sturdy trim levels, the new 2021 Ram 1500 Classic can be fitted with one of two powertrains. Both are partnered with an 8-speed automatic transmission, an E-shifter, and your choice of RWD or 4WD. The only exception to this is the top-tier Warlock, which is equipped with only a 4x4 drivetrain system.
The standard engine is a 3.6-litre V6 from Pentastar. With the help of Variable Valve Timing (VVT), it delivers 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. The maximum towing capacity varies depending on the cab style, but the most it handles is about 2,140 kg (4,720 lbs). The average fuel economy is estimated at around 13.8 L/100 km (17 mpg) in the city and 9.4 L/100 km (25 mpg) on the highway.
Next is the optional 5.7-litre HEMI V8. Also paired with VVT plus the FuelSaver Multi-Displacement System (MDS), it produces 395 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque. With the ability to pull up to 3,737 kg (8,240 lbs), it gets approximately 15.6 L/100 km (15 mpg) in the city and 11.2 L/100 km (21 mpg) on the highway.
